Summer Time Diffuser Blends Using Essential Oils

So just about everywhere summertime is close. Lately it feels like it’s already here with the high temperatures we’ve been hit with.

I’m finding myself stuck indoors on some of these days as it’s just too hot or muggy to go out and do anything (unless you get out early in the morning or later in the evening).

Below are some of my summertime diffuser blends. These recipes are light, herbaceous, floral and a little sweet. I think they’re nice and I hope you like them too.

Follow the instructions for your diffuser and have fun with these new blends.

Refreshing Pick Me Up

This is one I like to use after work when I'm beat and it's too hot to go outside. I'll turn it on and relax on the couch for just a few minutes before starting dinner or some other chore around the house.

Lavender Sweetness

Citrus Sweet Lavender Blend

This is one of the blends I make that my nose just seems to follow. When I use this and I walk by, I always have to stop and take it all in.

Summer Flowers

I love the smell of this one the geranium really comes through and mixed with lavender it's like your in a field of flowers. The black pepper essential oil adds just a hint of a woodsie and kind of a warm spicy scent.

These are just a few samples of how you can use your essential oils with your diffuser. A couple of these happen to be favorites of mine.

Keep in mind that you can have fun experimenting with these summer essential oil diffuser recipes. These can be a starting point for you to build on, add a few more drops of one or more oils, take out one and use another. It's all personal preference.

Performing a Patch Test and a Few Safety Tips.

If you are new or not sure how a blend or essential oil may react on your skin, it is always recommended to do a patch test prior to use. To do this, mix 2 drops essential oil to about 1/2 teaspoon carrier oil then apply to a patch of skin such as the forearm. Observe that area over the next 1 to 2 hours for any noticeable reaction; this will usually occur within 5-10 minutes. If you experience any irritation or discomfort either stop using or adjust the amount of essential oils you've used.

If you have not used a carrier oil before, you can also perform a patch test to the inner arm area.

Prior to using essential oils, always check the label for appropriate usage and do not apply essential oil to sensitive areas like the eyes, ears, and mucous membranes. If you have a medical condition and/or you are taking medications, consult your physician prior to use.
