Woodsy Diffuser Scents Using Essential Oils
Where we live, the summers and early fall are hot and the windows don't get open enough to air out the house. I have some of my favorite blends for my diffuser but my husband doesn't always care for them so I was on the hunt for a woodsy essential oil blend recipe that he would like and not mind me diffusing the house with.
Below are some of my "woodsy" diffuser blends. I think they’re nice and I hope you like them too. I typically add essential oils to the diffuser first then the water, helps to mix the oils a bit. Follow the instructions for your diffuser and have fun with these blends.
Woodsy Essential Oil Blend Recipe #1
- 4 drops Rose Geranium Essential Oil
- 3 drops Sage Essential Oil
- 2 drops Idaho Blue Spruce Essential Oil
The Idaho Blue Spruce essential oil is exclusive to Young Living but I'm sure if you were to use one of these, they will work just as well:
Woodsy Essential Oil Blend Recipe #2
- 5 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
- 4 drops Lime Essential Oil
- 2 drop Cedarwood Essential Oil
- 1 drop Patchouli Essential Oil
Woodsy Essential Oil Blend Recipe #3
- 3 drops Douglas Fir Essential Oil
- 2 drops Patchouli Essential Oil
- 2 drops Lime Essential Oil
- 1 drop Himalayan Cedarwood Essential Oil
- 1 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
- 1 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
Even though I add the oils to the diffuser first then the water to mix, I also take a toothpick and give it a little mix as well. I do this especially when using an essential oil like the peppermint in the last recipe. I find when using a stronger oil and if I don't mix them well enough, the stronger oil is too much (even when it's only 1 drop). I hope you enjoy these woodsy essential oil blend recipes.

Performing a Patch Test and a Few Safety Tips.
If you are new or not sure how a blend or essential oil may react on your skin, it is always recommended to do a patch test prior to use. To do this, mix 2 drops essential oil to about 1/2 teaspoon carrier oil then apply to a patch of skin such as the forearm. Observe that area over the next 1 to 2 hours for any noticeable reaction; this will usually occur within 5-10 minutes. If you experience any irritation or discomfort either stop using or adjust the amount of essential oils you've used.
If you have not used a carrier oil before, you can also perform a patch test to the inner arm area.
Prior to using essential oils, always check the label for appropriate usage and do not apply essential oil to sensitive areas like the eyes, ears, and mucous membranes. If you have a medical condition and/or you are taking medications, consult your physician prior to use.
