Homemade Spicy Citrus Clean Hands Spray
A "clean hands spicy citrus spray" could refer to a variety of products designed to sanitize or clean hands without the need for water and soap.
Years ago I bought this clean hands spray that I would use after grocery shopping or antique shopping, etc. It’s not a hand sanitizer but I would use this spray to clean my hands prior to using a hand sanitizer. This is a small batch and only uses a few ingredients along with a few essential oils.
It's such an easy spray to make that you can give away to friends and family or as a gift idea. Here's how you make a simple homemade clean hands spray:
Clean Hands Spicy Citrus Spray Recipe
This recipe makes about 2 ounces. I use a small glass measuring cup to mix all ingredients in before pouring in a spray bottle.
- 1/4 cup water (filtered from the refrigerator)
- 1 tablespoon Witch Hazel
- 1/4 teaspoon Vegetable Glycerin
- 14 drops Clove Essential Oil
- 8 drops Sweet Orange Essential Oil
- 8 drops Cassia Cinnamon Essential Oil
- 4 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
Directions
Starting with the water, add all ingredients in a small glass measuring cup. Stir to thoroughly mix together then pour in a spray bottle. Add label to spray bottle.
How to Use the Spray to Clean Hands
To use shake well then spray a small amount into the palm of your hand. Rub thoroughly into both hands making sure to cover completely. Let air dry. You can use a hand sanitizer after if desired.
Remember, this is not a substitute for hand washing, you should still wash your hands thoroughly when you get home.
Homemade Recipe Tips
- Make sure your work space and hands are clean.
- Make sure the containers you are using are clean.
- Make sure salves and creams have cooled enough before pouring in glass containers so they don't break.
- Keep the batch size small so the homemade products you use are fresh unless you're making gifts.
Infusing Herbal Oils
- Before you decide on which plant material you are going to use, I recommend you do your research on the plants or herbs you want to use.
- The infused oils I make are for topical use, I recommend you do a little test on your skin prior to using your infusion, just to make sure you don’t have a reaction, chances are pretty low that it would bother you, but you just never know especially if you have sensitive skin.
- All my infused oils have turned out great for the salves I’ve made or using them as they are or mixing with other oils and essential oils.
