Essential Oil Recipes for Use with Your Home Diffuser

I love using my home diffuser and the way the scents and blends I use make my home smell and how they make me feel.

Maybe you have essential oils in a cabinet and you’re just not sure how you want to use them. I can understand that, there are so many ways to use essential oils that you might feel a bit overwhelmed at times because you can’t decide which ones you want to use or what oil will blend nicely with other oils?

Maybe you’re thinking about buying essential oils and you want to check out all the possibilities beforehand and what oils you might want to start with.

Below I’ve put together a few essential oil recipes you can use in your diffuser.

Before using a new blend, follow the manufactures recommendations for cleaning your diffuser between uses.

Spring Fresh Blend

So I was enjoying a nice spring day with my daughter at the park and having a great time. When we got back home I thought how nice it would be to bring the Spring Freshness inside the house.

Fill your diffuser with water then add the following:

Turn your diffuser on and enjoy the light citrus, sort of sweet freshness.

Floral Sweetness

This is another essential oil recipe I like using around the house. It can sometimes make me forget I have two Dobermans running through the house.

Add to the water in your diffuser:

Sit back and enjoy this sweet, floral blend with just a touch of citrus.

Energize Your Morning Blend

There are times I need a little help in the morning. Although my coffee helps, I’ll sometimes put my diffuser on the stairway landing to help pick me up with this blend.

Fill the diffuser and add the following:

By the time I leave for work, I really feel more alert!

There are so many great uses and natural benefits of incorporating essential oils into your home environment.

Performing a Patch Test and a Few Safety Tips.

If you are new or not sure how a blend or essential oil may react on your skin, it is always recommended to do a patch test prior to use. To do this, mix 2 drops essential oil to about 1/2 teaspoon carrier oil then apply to a patch of skin such as the forearm. Observe that area over the next 1 to 2 hours for any noticeable reaction; this will usually occur within 5-10 minutes. If you experience any irritation or discomfort either stop using or adjust the amount of essential oils you've used.

If you have not used a carrier oil before, you can also perform a patch test to the inner arm area.

Prior to using essential oils, always check the label for appropriate usage and do not apply essential oil to sensitive areas like the eyes, ears, and mucous membranes. If you have a medical condition and/or you are taking medications, consult your physician prior to use.
